Contested Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. Contested with your Strength modifier + Proficiency bonus + Shield AL instead of an attack roll. If you succeed, you deal the shield's AL bonus + your Strength modifier as bludgeoning damage.
